Live Like A Local On Your Trip To Sicily

Le Casette di Campagna, nestled in the heart of Campofelice di Roccella, offers more than just accommodation—it’s an immersion into the true essence of Sicily. Managed by my dear friend, Ina Di Leonardo, this Tuscan-style home is surrounded by fragrant orange, lemon, fig, and olive trees and boasts breathtaking views of both the ocean and mountains, making it the ideal base for exploring Sicily's many treasures.

The Ideal Base To Explore Sicily

"People come here with a car, usually for a week," Ina explains. "It's the perfect base for day trips." Located just a half-mile from the beach and about 12 miles from the historic town of Cefalù, Le Casette di Campagna offers guests the opportunity to discover iconic Sicilian locales. Whether it's visiting Cefalù's stunning cathedral and museums or finding a secluded private beach, the surrounding area is rich with experiences. “The beaches there are beautiful, and you can easily discover your own private little cove for an afternoon - all within walking distance,” she says. Visitors can easily spend a day exploring other nearby towns such as Finale di Pollina, Castelbuono, or Sant'Elia, each filled with local charm and history.

Ina’s favorite activities involve simplicity and nature: “The beach, nature trails, and walks—this is where you really feel Sicily’s magic.”

Getting Around

For those looking to explore further, the nearby train station offers easy access to Palermo, Sicily’s capital, just 30 minutes away. While having a car is ideal, this alternative is convenient for a day in the city.

A Day At Le Casette di Campagna

The experience at Le Casette di Campagna is designed to make guests feel connected to Sicily. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed with freshly picked fruits and vegetables from the garden, setting the tone for an authentic local experience. Ina describes a typical day, where mornings start with a leisurely breakfast and coffee in the courtyard, the air perfumed by citrus blossoms. After a day spent by the beach or exploring nearby towns, evenings are a true delight. "As the sun sets, the courtyard transforms," she shares. "Candles flicker as you sip local wine and savor fresh figs picked from our garden, with the idyllic sound of crickets filling the air. It's an entirely different experience from the hustle and bustle that comes with travel—it’s pure bliss."

The Best Time To Visit

Ina notes that March, April, May, September, and October are the best times to visit Sicily, as the weather is perfect and crowds are thinner. During the month of August, Italians generally close their businesses and enjoy a vacation for themselves.

A Home Away From Home

Le Casette di Campagna is equipped with modern comforts, including air conditioning, free WiFi, and a fully equipped kitchen. However, it’s the unique experiences that make it truly special—picking lemons in the morning from your own private garden, relaxing at a local beach club, dining at a village trattoria, and retreating back to this tranquil Sicilian haven after a long day of exploring.

Whether it's a quiet escape or a home base for exploring the island, Le Casette di Campagna offers a perfect Sicilian getaway that will leave guests with lasting memories of Sicily's natural beauty and charm.
